Our $1 million milestone

For more than 20 years, Local Government and Civic Federal Credit Unions have partnered with the UNC School of Government to fund professional development scholarships for those who choose a career in public service. This is an easy decision for us because we share the School’s vision and mission to improve North Carolina communities.

We are thrilled to say that last quarter we reached the $1 million milestone of scholarship funding to classes and certifications at the School of Government!

This is an easy decision for us because we share the School’s vision and mission to improve North Carolina communities. Our credit unions meet the financial needs of local government employees while the School educates, develops and trains local government employees and elected officials to enhance and advance their professional development.

We are thrilled to say that last quarter we reached the $1 million milestone of scholarship funding to classes and certifications at the School of Government!

Civic and LGFCU Executive Vice President Mark Caverly recently recognized Debbie Whitfield of Person County as the scholarship recipient whose funding officially tipped us over the $1 million mark.

“I really appreciated the opportunity to attend the budgeting conference at the UNC School of Government, and the Civic scholarship made that possible by covering the cost of the class,” Whitfield says. “The class helped me to better understand the whole budgeting process, which I know will benefit me down the road in my career.”

Civic to more than double branch and ATM access for members

Over the last 18 months we’ve shared that we are working with SECU to provide a solution for cash deposits and withdrawals (no additional transactions) within the SECU network of branches, post-independence in June 2025.

Here’s another way we’re listening!

We’ve launched our credit unions’ inaugural Executive Advisory Council (EAC)!

It takes a village
